the story so far…
Frances Bayliss spent many years in the tropics. She taught overseas and in the UK, whilst snatching time between family commitments and jobs to practice and study as a textile designer. Between posts overseas Frances returned as a mature student to pursue her passion for textiles, studying weave and print, followed by a period of freelance design.
After achieving a distinction in a fashion and textiles MA at Bath Spa University tea green was formed.
The textile designs have been influenced by years spent in Asia Pacific where she was surrounded by glimpses of bright, vibrant and rich colour. The simple motifs used have often become structured repeats, adding relief and texture.
Through exploration of different technical processes, including digital embroidery, Frances has aimed to develop a portfolio of contemporary, highly individual designs, applying them to leather and natural fabrics. The intention is to project her passion for colour and understated detail.
All the leather products are manufactured in Somerset, England. The legacy left by the leather industry in the county has underpinned her vision to utilise the traditional craftsmanship in the creation of these unique accessories.
